Education
I graduated from Grinnell College with a double major in Sociology (with honors) and Gender & Women's Studies (with honors). I am currently a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Experience
I have extensive experience working with students on writing, especially college and scholarship essays. While in college, I was selected to be a peer writing fellow. This entailed working closely with students on their writing, helping them with papers and other written assignments. Additionally, I was simultaneously enrolled in a Teaching Writing course, which provided me with important knowledge of the most effective strategies for teaching writing. After graduating from college, I worked as an assistant college counselor in Chicago. In this role, I worked closely with high school seniors on all aspects of the college admissions processes, including selecting colleges to apply to, their college essays, and scholarship essays. Two students who I spent extra time with after school working on scholarship essays received full-tuition scholarships. I truly love helping students with writing. I had an incredible writing teaching who showed me what a powerful tool it can be. Through the process of becoming a better writer, I also gained confidence in my academic abilities as a whole. I look forward to having the opportunity to empower your son or daughter to have confidence in the power of his/her own writing.
