Experience

My background is in genetics and microbiology. I have experience in teaching the lab portion of college microbiology and tutoring in standardized test prep, biology, and math. I currently work in a laboratory, which gives me real world experience on teaching labs and how they relate to the world. I think this helps to make the topic more interesting and understandable to the students. I believe that making connections to the living world and the material being covered is important to help the students become excited in their learning. My future plans are to study wildlife pathology in veterinary school, which I am preparing to enter. In addition to the variety of science classes that I tutor, I can also tutor students in their academic writing for science and lab reports or in provide general homework support. I also offer tutoring in study skills to help provide students a well-rounded toolkit of learning strategies. When I am not focused on my studies or working, I find enjoyment in being outdoors and yoga. I also enjoy a good cup of tea or coffee and finding time to play with my guinea pigs.
