Experience

I specialize in high school AP Chemistry and college level General Chemistry, though I can tutor all levels of both chemistry and math. I have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, 10 years of tutoring experience, and have taught Chemistry courses at the University of Arizona. I am very passionate about early-level chemistry and math tutoring. Due to the accumulative nature of chemistry and math courses, one bad teacher can ruin the entire subject for a student. I emphasize a broad understanding of the subject that tends to leave students with a greater appreciation. Often students believe they understand the concept, but cannot apply it to problems. I aim to teach students how to approach complex science and math problems in a way that allows them to think through the question using the concepts they are learning.

Hobbies

My hobbies include capoeira and dancing. Along with my boyfriend I run a capoeira martial arts and dance academy. I am passionate about teaching and performing martial arts and dance. My love of teaching comes from a live long love of learning. As a Ph.D. graduate, I know that hard work and dedication to learning can pay off. As a private tutor for the past 10 years, I have had the pleasure of helping hundreds of students realize their own potential and see their grades and test scores improve.
