Cyan Z.

Private tutor in Madison, WI

Education

I am a freshman at University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in journalism and mass communications. My current GPA is 3.808.

Experience

I've had previous experience tutoring, mainly working with kids aged from 7 to 15. I used to be a part-time teacher in an English as a second language institute for a year. I was also a private English and math tutor for a 7th grader. Conducting creative and informative lessons is my passion.I have great writing and communication skills which help me communicate effectively with students. I scored a 2180 on my SAT, with 780 on maths, 670 on verbal and 730 on writing. I scored 110 on my TOEFL test. I have won the first place in a math competition in my high school. The reason I want to become a tutor is that I love talking to people and sharing, so teaching is a great way to achieve both. I am pretty articulate and organized, so I can make my lessons easy to digest. I also think working with kids is a great way to be happy because of the satisfaction you get when they understand what you said. I have taken calculus, general chemistry, English as a second language classes in college. Most of my students reflected that I'm a fun, engaging and patient teacher. I often come up with creative ways to make students interested in my class. I have a natural talent to have fun with kids, and make friends with them. I am rigorous, of course, but I believe real education lies in equality and friendship.

Hobbies

I am an easy-going person. My hobbies include music, food, reading, writing and many more. In my free time I love to cook delicious food for myself and eat them while reading. I know many great Chinese food and since Chinese food has great diversity, it can help learn Chinese as well. Because the best way to learn a language is to emerge in that culture, and I believe no one is better to be a tutor than a native speaker. I am a big fan of music, from classical to popular. Therefore I can introduce many Chinese songs to the student, and listening to music is an effective way to learn a language as well. If you are interested in catchphrases or idioms, I happen to have a variety of knowledge about them. These can help you speak Chinese like a native!
