Private tutor in Madison, WI
Education
Carthage College, B.A. in Chemistry and Biology Cornell University, PhD in Integrative Plant Sciences Cornell University Center for Teaching Excellence GET SET Program Certification
Experience
My graduate and postdoctoral work focused on how microbes in the soil change the way plants grow. This interdisciplinary program required coursework in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Biogeochemistry, Computer Modeling, and Genetics and was funded in part by an NSF Fellowship. My current position does not afford me the opportunity to teach often, and I miss sharing the weird, wonderful world of STEM with students. I take a wide approach to each subject to help provide the context that helps everything "stick". Dyslexia- and Dyscalculia-friendly provisions included for anyone who would like them. Relevant Experience: Center for Teaching Excellence Certification (Cornell University) Graduate Class Teaching Assistant (Cornell University) Undergraduate Class Teaching Assistant (Cornell University) Freelance science and writing tutor

Hobbies
I'm an easy-going personality with a wide range of interests. I can talk about and relate to most hobbies or passions: sports, video games, books, TV, movies, music. If you can find something I haven't tried yet, you can give me homework on it! Personally, I love to find the connections between things. My favorite ways to do that are reading, traveling, and teaching.
