Cornell College - Bachelors, International Development
I was a student at Cornell College, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I received my B.A. in International Development. While attending college, I was able to work at the Cornell writing studio as a peer tutor for a few years. This allowed me to be able to work with students from various disciplines and who were all at different academic levels. I worked with freshman struggling with their new classes, as well as seniors who needed help on their thesis. After I graduated, I was given the opportunity to travel to India, where I taught ESL to middle school students at a local public school. While there, I was able to work for a non-profit organization teaching the basics skills of literacy to girls with disadvantages. I love to teach writing and reading, which is lucky for me as almost all school subjects involves these skills. I love to help students develop a positive relationship with the learning process and help them find the excitement in what they are studying. I strive to empower and encourage my students. My goal is to help my students become strong, independent lifelong learners by working with their specific strengths and skills. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, and hanging out with my cats and my family, which usually involves walking with my spouse.
