Gary was an excellent English tutor for my kids and me. I have been improved my TOEFL score for 5 months. We discussed about diverse themes and practiced TOEFL speaking section with time limit. Also, he checked and corrected my journals through email. It was very helpful for preparing writing exam. His classes for kids were never boring, so my son and daughter always enjoyed it. As for me, Gary was a perfect tutor.
He is very patient and well-prepared. He is always on time both in person and in answering email questions. He is also flexible and pays attention to the student's need.
Gary is great! He creates a good environment for speaking with confident and provides good advice. He is pretty knowledgeable on the issues that affect different languages. I would recommend Gary to anyone who wants to improve his/her language.
Classes were perfect. Exactly what I needed. Communication was excellent even with my poor English. Gary has an excellent technique and was always on time, accessible and helpful. Thanks a lot for this experience. Cesar
Gary is a wonderful English tutor! My parents came to Wisconsin for a moth to learn English. They tried group classes offered around town and also took classes with Gary. They enjoyed Gary's classes the most, because of the individualized attention they received. Gary is also a very nice person to be around so meeting him was not only helpful but also very fun. I totally recommend Gary as a tutor!
Gary has been tutoring my Wife and son in English for almost 2 months now. They are recently from China and need some more formal English instruction to improve, especially for school. He's very easy to understand, and has a great mannerism, lots of patience and a good grasp of teaching concepts. Listening to him speak with them I realize how poorly I pronounce words and how fast I speak. He's given both, free-flowing lessons, where he goes where ever the questions lead, and also directed lessons when helping my son finish a 6th grade assignment. I would recommend him highly for either and adult or child that wants to improve their English skills. Steve Lufkin
Gary is an excellent tutor. He is also flexible, professional and knowledgable. After working with Gary, I feel more confident with my English. I would recommend him to anyone.
Such a nice tutor. Gary is friendly and shows interest in my research topics, which is good. I've been meeting with him for six weeks so far. Basically what he provides is not only about English language but also about various aspects of things we talk. To be more specific, he teaches me some useful expressions, correct my pronunciation/grammar, and expands my knowledge by letting me know some useful/related information. The more I meet him, the more I feel comfortable talking with somebody in English. I highly recommend him!
Gary has been teaching our son for several months now. We have been very pleased and he is very enthusiastic about teaching.
Gary is a wonderful teacher. He is a patient, experienced, and skillful tutor, definitely worth every penny!
I highly recommend Gary Sponholz as a teacher. He has been teaching me English now for two months and I really enjoy the lessons with him. I am an advanced English learner and I needed to improve my academic English skills. His ability to adapt to my field of research was incredible. He supported me in improving my academic skills by listening to my presentations, speaking and discussing topics in my research field, and reading and correcting my texts. In fact, we practiced a job interview as well. He is reliable, organized and flexible. I am glad that I found Gary because he is an excellent teacher.
I started working with Gary about seven month ago, and I have received great lessons for my English skills. He teaches very well and provides me a lot of confidence for English. In addition, he is so thoughtful that I can set up our meetings according to my schedule. I strongly recommend Gary.
Today, My lesson is finished. When I met to Gary(1.5months ago), I can't speak English and I don't understand English. Now, I became speaking and listening. And I don't afraid of English. Because of Gary's lesson, I have had a lot of English skill. Gary is very good tutor. I recommend him to you as a excellent English teacher.
Just like anyone who starts learning English for the first time, I had difficult time with reading and pronunciation. English course at MATC is taught in English only and learning often happens during testing. In my opinion, most effective way to learn is to have someone explain rules to you in your native language and practice speaking with native speaker of English. That is why I started taking lessons from Gary Sponholz. He is not only a native speaker of English, but also has experience with Russian. For every question I receive a well educated answer. His lessons are hardly boring. He uses various forms of teaching and we often discuss some uncommon topics. Gary often shares differences of modern American English and American culture. Just after few months of lessons, I feel I have reached some of my goals: 1. I am no longer afraid of English- that is the most important to me 2. I have confidence in my pronunciation 3. I understand more while reading thought still with the help of a dictionary 4. I try to think in English and name things around me in English Results are very good results!! I know, I made a great choice by having Gary as my tutor.
